Ricky Neckles of Neckles Global Enterprise, a young, talented twenty-something year old who has been delivering his message that “it is not where you start that counts, but where you finish”, was one of the panelist at the recent UFSC, Urban Financial Services Coalition-Toronto Chapter International Conference in Toronto. The conference theme was Borderless Future – Boundless Opportunities held on September 27 – 29, 2012.
Ricky was part of an esteemed panel who participated in the town hall-styled “Building Role Models” panel discussion. They focused on how we identify, support and nurture role models in our diverse communities, and empower them to assist those communities and inspire sustained prosperity.
UFSC Toronto Conference’s aim was to offer the most relevant slate of programming for a variety of audiences, including financial services professionals, entrepreneurs, youth and student participants, and community attendees. According to their website announcement ‘An essential part of every UFSC Conference, and an identified critical goal of the UFSC Toronto 2012 Conference, is to give back and act as role models to our community’ and indeed delivered that statement with the representation by Ricky Neckles who has clearly demonstrated true leadership and mentoring qualities for many years.
He is using his strengths, skills, determination and passion as businessman and entrepreneur to achieve his dreams while at the same time never forgetting his humble beginnings. His inspiration comes from his mother “The struggles she went through as an immigrant to Canada, and the sacrifices she made to provide greater opportunities for me are priceless. My mother’s love keeps me going every day. Her unwavering positivity and love of life are contagious, and I am blessed to have caught them both.”
He continues to serve his community through public speaking and mentoring the future generation because as he so aptly states “As I have received guidance and learned the fundamentals from others, I feel it is my duty to reach out and do the same. If I don’t teach and guide my own brothers and sisters, who will?” He has addressed audiences nationwide and has been featured on Daytime Toronto and Entrepreneurship on Your Biz @ ThatChannel.com, watch accompanying videos and read his bio below where he shares his experiences, accomplishments and his views on business thus far.
As an Entrepreneur, Public Speaker, and Community Servant, the name Ricky Neckles is synonymous with excellence and leadership. His academic performance at the University of Toronto earned him the role of Business Development Analyst during his twelve-month internship at Nortel Networks. When Ricky graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, his business acumen and leadership qualities landed him atop the recruitment lists of companies across Canada. Among them, was Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.
Ricky would become one of Accenture's youngest recruits and the youngest to be appointed to the position of Management Consultant Analyst where his portfolio included consulting Sears, Loblaws, and various other multi-billion dollar corporations.
Despite his success at Accenture, Ricky decided to pursue his entrepreneurial passion after one year with the company. In 2008, Ricky Founded Neckles Global Enterprise Inc. (NGE), a privately held investment company which owns a collection of diversified businesses operating in sectors that include real estate, trade and manufacturing.
After training with the Professional Real Estate Investors Group, and the Institute of Commercial Real Estate, Ricky has developed an efficient, effective, and unique system of evaluation that allows NGE to aggressively seize prime investment opportunities efficiently. By employing a method of thorough market research data and analysis, Neckles Global Enterprise now holds investment properties valued at over 3 million dollars under Ricky's leadership and direction.
Under the NGE umbrella, Ricky co-founded TNTech Canada Inc., which would soon become Canada's leading supplier and distributor of on-site paging services. Effectively guided by Ricky, TNTech has helped maximize the efficiency and communication for its clientele that includes: Jack Astor's, The Keg Steakhouse, Baton Rouge and Shoppers Drug Mart.
Aside from his business and entrepreneurial ventures, Ricky remains committed to promoting academic excellence and community service. Ricky has also taken his message of stewardship before government officials and corporate executives.
Ricky was raised in Toronto's Mount Dennis community, a neighborhood recognized by the local governments as "at risk." This at risk environment has given Ricky a unique perspective on the challenges facing youth in the at-risk communities across Canada. His message of perseverance despite circumstance has resonated with youth who understand the daily challenges they face.
Through partnerships with organizations like the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), where he served two terms as President of the University of Toronto Chapter, Ricky has inspired youth to strive for academic excellence, while providing them with the tools to achieve success. During his tenure as president of the NSBE, membership tripled, and financial support for the organization grew exponentially by over 500%.
His most notable accomplishment, however, is the launch of the Youth Legacy Program, an initiative aimed at developing the academic and leadership skills of students in elementary and secondary schools, as well as to stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Ricky's vision has always been to ambitiously raise the standard of excellence for our future leaders.
Having overcome the adversity of his environment, it is Ricky's goal to create a lasting legacy of achievement, excellence, and leadership in his community. Ricky believes, "It is not where you start that counts, but where you finish." Having experienced a measure of success as an entrepreneur and community leader, Ricky continues to serve and lead his community by emphasizing the importance of education and community service.
