Reigning International Soca Monarch Machel Montano and HD led a superb cast of T&T entertainers taking the spotlight at an event called Real Artist Vibe Experience (RAVE) held at Hialeah Park, Miami, last weekend. Thousands came out for the signature event—which has now secured a premium place on the Miami pre-Carnival roster—to be entertained by locals including Kees Dieffenthaller and Kes the Band, plus Karma with Ravi and Nisha B.
Reigning Chutney Monarch KI (Veeshal Kris Persad), TC (Terrin Callender) and Shal Marshall (Stevenson Marshall), Benjai (Rodney Le Blanc) and Kerwin Du Bois sustained the excitement with their chart-topping hits on the production from promotion houses Party People, Island United, and Big and Strong. Karma set the stage for the scintillating T&T performances, followed by Kes The Band which sweetened the rich musical brew, providing fertile grounds for the two-hour featured performance from Montano and HD. This segment saw Patrice Roberts and Farmer Nappy share the spotlight with Montano in another memorable act.
Well-known dancehall artiste Mr Vegas could not better the fine showing from the T&T delegation. He took the spotlight after Montano and HD, but was unable to win over the crowd. The decision by the young promoters to continue a longstanding tradition of contracting top T&T entertainers was well received by the international audience.
T&T’s consul general to Miami Dr Anil Ramnanan, Neil Parsan, ambassador to Washington and the OAS, as well as former International Soca Monarchs Ronnie Mc Intosh and Bunji Garlin (Ian Alvarez) were on location to witness the top-notch offerings.
