TORONTO, CANADA, March 13, 2013 — TransformNation wishes to say thanks for all the support that was bestowed upon the telethon to eradicate Childhood Obesity which was held on March 9, 2013. Executive director, Elvenia Sandiford, of TransformNation expresses her gratitude to the management, staff, and volunteers of Rogers Television for their hard work in promoting and hosting the telethon for an incredible 12-hour period.
We fell short of our financial target; however, we are pleased with the overall support we got on that day. We remain hopeful as pledges continue to come in by telephone, by our website, or cheques sent to 7 – 2555 Dixie Road. Mississauga, Ont. L4Y 4C4, at our office supported by East Mississauga Community Health Centre.
Sandiford further said, “We wish to also thank our media partners Metroland Media, Mississauga News, The Mississauga News This Week, and The Brampton Guardian. We extend our thanks to all of our volunteers, service providers, and professional who gave of their time and resources to the telethon. We also express heartfelt gratitude to Royson James of the Toronto Star, who wrote articles about our efforts as we continue to offer free programs for families and children.”
The telethon helped to demonstrate the supportive efforts of TransformNation to families and youth within various communities in the Greater Toronto area of Canada. TransformNation believes that it is critical to continue working to build vibrant and progressive communities, where individuals and families are valued and supported.
Sandiford further thanked the many online supporters who shared information about the telethon. Sandiford states, “It is our understanding that there were over 280,000 retweets on Twitter and more than 7,000 people visited our Facebook page during the course of the day. Many actively worked to inspire the discussion and helped to raise awareness about TransformNation’s fight against Childhood Obesity.”
TransformNation is actively seeking financial support, board members, volunteers, partnerships, and sponsorships in order to continue serving communities. Sandiford stated, “Our services produce lasting opportunities which will positively impact people, programs, and projects.”
