Team Jamaica Bickle will hold its annual 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Baisley Pond Park, Queens, New York. The event, now in its 3rd year, is being staged in association with Awesome Power Track Club.  In addition to the 5K Run, there will be a 5K Walk and a 1 Mile Youth Run.  Staged under the theme, “Promoting Healthy Lifestyles”, the organization’s broader message of health is central to its mission. As the event grows it hopes to expand that platform.

An event which began in 2011, the 5K saw a one hundred percent growth in its 2nd year. It is the hope of the organization that this year will see record turnout.

Additionally, Team Jamaica Bickle is expanding its wings by partnering with the Jamaican Jerk Festival USA, Inc.; organizers of the Grace Jerk Festival in Sunrise, Florida to stage the inaugural Hot Trot 5K.

Hot Trot will kick off ‘Jerk Week’, which will culminate with the hugely successful Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival.

About Team Jamaica Bickle

Team Jamaica Bickle, Inc., is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization, based in New York. It was formed in 1994, under the leadership of Irwine G. Clare Sr., to provide much needed support for Jamaican athletes who compete at the annual Penn Relays Carnival, held at the University of Pennsylvania.

Team Jamaica Bickle, Inc., has supported athletes and athletic programs for the past 19 years. Its services have since been extended to athletes, coaches and volunteers from Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and St. Vincent & The Grenadines, as well as the USA. In 1999, Team Jamaica Bickle became the first Jamaican organization to be a participating sponsor at the Penn Relays. As a result, the Jamaican flag became the first foreign nation’s flag to be flown at the Penn Relays, a distinction unmatched.
