My career is doing fantastic. This season I did so many shows in New York, including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Mark Jacobs, it’s a fantastic career….and I’m in the March issue of American Vogue and I got the cover of French Elle in December 2014, so it’s truly wonderful.” – Tami Williams
Those were a few of the many accomplishments which have proven historical for the now seventeen year old. She is the first Caribbean and Jamaican and youngest black model to be on the cover of the prestigious French Elle publication.
Her first debut runway show was in February 2014 for Alexander Wang at the age of fifteen and she has recently landed four high profile editorials within the last eight months.
When it all started….
Shaekagale Shaniece Williams, affectionately known as Tami Williams, has undoubtedly taken the fashion world and model industry by storm. But where did it all start?
She was born in August 1998 in Jamaica. Growing up she has had a passion to model for a long while. Regardless of her young age, she has accomplished everything she has set out to do in her life in regards to modeling and so much more.
At the age of eleven, turning twelve, standing at an extraordinary height of 5’8”, she was discovered by Deiwght Peters of Saint International modeling agency. However, she informed the CEO that she would wait until she “grew more” and at a whopping 5’11”, at the age of 13, she decided to take on the modeling world. With her personality, attitude and model stature, it did not come as a surprise that she would woo the judges of Saint International in their Face of the Caribbean 2012. But it wasn’t until renowned supermodel-maker Louie Chaban from Elite New York called the agency wishing to represent the Jamaican beauty and soon Peters accompanied her to New York for model related appointments.
“The agents were extremely impressed with her deportment, defined by her elegant posture and her personality. She asked the right questions and was very poised. I felt very proud, especially when she told the director of Elite that in the future, she wanted to be the face of Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Chanel Make-up,” Peters stated.
Williams’ pristine global career has been managed by Peters and Saint International with International partners such as Elite Models (New York); Uno (Barcelona); Storm Models (London); WHY NOT (Milan) and Elite (Paris).
With goals set and her determined nature, it was only deserving that Tami Williams would achieve international stardom, having only been in the industry a few years. The Black River High School student was recently informed that she would be the next face of Calvin Klein.
“This is every model’s and agent’s ultimate dream. There has never been any Jamaican (or Caribbean model) whose ascendancy to true supermodeldom has been so profound and at such lightning speed,” boasted Peters
Being selected by the prestigious Calvin Klein is very pivotal to a model’s career and is known in elite fashion circles for high power and significance. Calvin Klein’s Fall Collection is defined as “the most prestigious and luxurious brand, setting the tone for elegance and modern sophistication”.
“For a brand such as the legendary Calvin Klein to select Tami for its top brand category not only telegraphs to the world that she is among the world’s top models but also defines this moment for her to be a supermodel for the ages,” Peters applauded.
She is the first Caribbean model to be selected by Calvin Klein as the face of the brand for its Collection Fall 2015 Campaign. She also has been on numerous editorials such as the NY Times, W Magazine, Style Magazine in February 2015, and Another Magazine in December 2014, but this is one of the most historical achievements for the model of all time.
Her Fall/Winter 2015/2016 Fashion Shows:

She continues making waves in the industry and winning hearts of the masses as she develops as a person and an extraordinary model. Her focus is now on finishing her year and a half of high school as she is still heavily invested in her studies, but still has a passion for modeling. She definitely sees a bright future in modeling and is extremely grateful for the opportunities, her agency, partners, family, friends and the overall support and acceptance from millions of people all around the world.
