Thousands of patrons in South Florida were delighted with this masterpiece. Barbershop Bangarang’s supporting cast — which includes Ian Reid, Joy Grandison, Maxine Osbourne, Elvis Morris, and Tashique Amos — is anxious to entertain patrons.
The play is set in a barbershop — a meeting place for gossip and opinions on various issues such as politics, sports, the trending news of the day, and of course; people’s private business. It focuses on the happenings in the lives of the property owner (Inez) and her tenants – barbers (Fanso, Ralph, and Tall Man), hairstylist (Gwen) and her daughter (Grace), and an ambitious, thrifty, well-connected handyman (Lova).
The audience is presented with a fascinating glimpse into a world of:
- Hard work and thriftiness contrasted with an unfocused lifestyle
- The power of perseverance and the human capacity to rebound from missteps
- Gratitude expressed for help provided
- The sweet triumph of forgiveness over the ugly bitterness contained in the unrelenting urge for revenge.
