More summer drinks to quench your thirst – It’s almost 100 degrees why not make one?

Papaya and Mango Punch

1 cup mango pulp

1 cup papaya (pawpaw)

1 cup fresh orange juice

1 teaspoon grated orange rind

¼ cup lime juice

4 cups water

Sugar to taste

1.       Crush slices of mango and papaya to make pulp

2.      Add other ingredients and blend well

3.      Add sugar and serve chilled or over cracked ice

Tamarind Juice

Remove tamarind from shell and place in a pot of water

Add a couple of cloves or a cinnamon stick (optional) and bring to a boil

Let cool, then strain through a sieve, add sugar to taste and serve chilled

Tamarind Cooler

1 cup tamarind pulp

1 1/3 cups evaporated milk

¾ cup condensed milk

¼ cup of white rum

1 cup ice

Combine all ingredients in a blender

Pour into glasses and garnish as desired

Pomegranate Drink

 3 cups fresh pomegranate juice

½ cup fresh lemon juice (or ¼ cup lime juice)

1 teaspoon orange blossom water

Sugar to taste

Pinch of salt

Seltzer or water, to taste, and ice cubes

Combine ingredients in a blender, or mix in a pitcher and serve with ice cubes

Guinep Drink

4 ½ pounds (2kg) guinep

4-5 cups water

Brown sugar to taste

2 tablespoons lime juice

Sliced lime

  1. Remove the skin from the guinep
  2. Soak the seeds in a little water, rubbing them intermittently to remove as much pulp from the seed as possible.
  3. Throw away the seeds after removing pulp
  4. Add brown sugar and lime juice to pulp
  5. Blend thoroughly

Add sliced lime and serve chilled

Soursop Juice

1 ripe soursop

Condensed milk

Grated nutmeg

½ teaspoon lime juice (or 1 teaspoon lemon juice)

3 cups water

  1. Remove skin from the soursop, leaving the white pulp
  2. Pour water and 1 cup of the soursop pulp (including seeds) in a blender and blend on the lowest speed, turning blender in order to separate the pulp from the seeds. (This can also be done manually by placing a large sieve in a bowl with water – use your hands to thoroughly knead the soursop, separating the pulp from the seeds.)
  1. Strain and remove seeds. For thicker drink, return some of the pulp to the watery mixture
  2. Sweeten with condensed milk to taste, and add lime juice
  3. Sprinkle nutmeg on top and serve over ice

Alternative: Substitute the condensed milk and prepare with sugar and lime juice

Enjoy!
