Merry Christmas 2013

Christmas Greetings! The best gift that we can give to each other is the gift of knowledge, because it lasts forever, and knowledge can inform, transform, enlighten, and empower; so this is my gift to you. The year 2013 was magnificent and challenging for many in various parts of the world, and even for some of us in North America. Some of our family members and friends are not with us, but by God’s grace we celebrate a Merry Christmas 2013. It is a divine privilege.

Our world is going through massive revolutionary changes in many dimensions: spiritual, social, moral, intellectual, political, economic, and environmental. One can argue that human beings have all of the resources essential to create a better world, but it is not in human nature. Six thousand years of recorded human history stand as evidence to convict us. Environmentally, we are faced with a “double-edged sword”. Humanly caused and humanly inspired disaster on one hand, and on the other hand; the natural global evolution of the world's eco-system. In some strange way this 'twin calamity' seems to correlate to the state of humanity.

Notwithstanding, we must not sit by incapacitated, and complicit by our silence, while negative forces dominate the modern culture, in every human endeavour. "All that is necessary for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing" — Edmund Burke (1729-1797). The problem is that too many good people are afraid to write and speak to the issues that are facing humanity.

Nelson Mandela (1918 – 2013) has demonstrated the perfect example of the life of Jesus Christ, when he had every right to be “righteously indignant”. My prayer is that we have learned a lesson from his legacy, because our world is a lesser place, though he tried to move the “arc” of his nation towards love, fairness, peace, and justice. Some would argue; without the overwhelming support one would expect from good people with power throughout the world.

“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all”. “The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you — Amen”.
