Trinidad and Tobago has long been known for its vibrant night life and fun loving people. For some, fun cannot be had without good company and a slowly sipped, perfectly mixed cocktail. Enter the experienced and creative bartenders of Trinidad and Tobago, one of which is Kester Blake from Club Zen in Port of Spain. Kester Blake will be one of ten finalists representing Latin America and the Caribbean in the prestigious Diageo Reserve World Class Global Final being held from July 4th to 9th 2013 in some of the most iconic locations in the Mediterranean.
The journey to the Mediterranean started in a hotly contested competition where judges from both Diageo and local wine and spirits distributor Bryden sipped and tasted until their decision to give Kester Blake the nod as Trinidad and Tobago’s top bartender. Blake is set to join his ten mixologist colleagues from countries such as Colombia, Dominican Republic, Panama and Cayman Islands in the competition which kicks off in one of the playgrounds of the rich and famous, the French Riviera on board the boutique cruise ship the Azamara Journey.
It is no doubt that Kester Blake will put Trinidad and Tobago’s charm on display just as he did during the local leg of the competition with his Signature Serve, the Santa Cruz, made from Don Julio Tequila, lime and mint. A win in this competition for any bartender will certainly propel them to the upper echelons of bartending heaven similar to previous winner Erik Lorincz who served as consultant and head bartender for the wedding of heiress Petra Ecclestone and was also a consultant on the recent James Bond hit Skyfall.
Trinidad and Tobago looks forward to hearing great things from our very own Kester Blake, master mixologist, who will not only be taking his cocktail creations to the world stage but will also be flying the flag of his country proudly. We all wish him the very best!
