KADHAI – FISH RECIPE

KADHAI ( a traditional Indian iron wok) FISH RECIPE

A north Indian fish curry which is bound to please your taste buds with its spiciness.

Serves: 5

Ingredients:

2 lbs of fish cut into 1/1/2 inch pieces

2 cups yoghurt
1-2 cups water
1tsp turmeric
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp roasted jeera powder
1 tbsp besan
1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp jeera seeds

1 tsp fennel seeds
8-10 curry leaves
½ tsp of asafoetida

1 tbsp oil
1 tsp sugar
Salt to taste

Method:

·         Marinate the fish with 1 tsp of turmeric and 2 tsp of salt for some time.

·         Mix the yogurt, water, besan along with jeera, turmeric and coriander powder in a bowl.

·         Heat oil in a pan and add mustard, jeera and fennel seeds as well as asafoetida and curry leaves.

·         Immediately add the yoghurt mixture and keep stirring till it gets to boiling.

·         Add the fish pieces and let the curry simmer.

·         Stir only once in the first couple of minutes, then let it cook for about 8 minutes.

·         Transfer to a serving dish and serve hot.
