"Uniting our people, Restoring Hope for a brighter tomorrow”
On Saturday, February 15, 2014, The Grenada Association of Toronto, under the auspices of The Consulate General of Grenada, will be hosting its annual gala in celebration of Grenada’s 40th anniversary of Independence. The gala will be held at the Spirale Banquet Hall, 888 Don Mills Road in Toronto, Ontario. The keynote speaker will be a member of the Government of Grenada and the featured entertainer will be Edson Ajamu Mitchell.
The multi-talented Ajamu (King Ajamu) celebrates 30 years in the entertainment industry and everyone will enjoy his top class performance and entertainment in Calypso, Soca, Parang, and Reggae. In 1988, he was awarded the title — Member of the British Empire (MBE) — by Queen Elizabeth ll. Ajamu has also won the Grenada Calypso Monarch title seven times, a Road March, and a Soca Monarch title.
This annual Independence Gala is one of the finest events in the Greater Toronto area of Canada. The theme of this year’s celebrations is "Uniting our people, Restoring Hope for a brighter tomorrow”.
The gala will showcase 40 years of Grenada’s history with a projected view of the future. This event usually attracts various officials from the Government of Canada, Province of Ontario, City of Toronto and proud members of the Toronto/Grenadian community. The organizers of this event expect more than 500 patrons to attend this classic evening.
