Ian Chang – aka Purpose

The artiste who hails from Mountain View, Kingston, Jamaica, where his music career blossomed, currently resides in the Turks and Caicos Islands and continues to impact the lives of people through his catalogue of inspirational songs; including his latest production “Victory”.

Music lovers who have the opportunity to listen to Purpose’s songs, may categorize him as a secular artiste, but he considers himself an inspirational artiste, who does reggae music in the form of social commentaries, which from time to time would include gospel.

Purpose started out as a gospel act, doing mainly praise and worship, then got exposed to the arenas of the JCDC Gospel and Pop Festival, and from there he developed his writing skills; expressing the everyday life he saw in the ghettos in his songs.

The artiste has decided to focus more on recording gospel music as it is his calling. He said, “There was always this voice in my head telling me that I would be more effective, coming back to my roots and it took me years to realize that God had done so much for me and brought me through some turmoil, and simply asked me in a still voice, will you just try gospel again? I want to elevate you and cause you to touch some lives in a different way; so I just got up one day last year around this time and said to my producer Alex Martin-Blanken, let us do a gospel album bro., and the rest is ‘Victory’.”

This led to the production of a twelve (12) track album titled “Victory”, which is expected to be released summer 2016. It is a great album that is richly composed by Purpose and produced Alex Martin-Blanken of Jabukem Music; featuring great musicians such as Computer Paul Henton, Benjy Myaz and Asim Jabulani; with backing vocals by Nadine Marie.

Alex Martin-Blanken is thrilled to be working with Purpose on this project and says, “We have done a few projects so far, but this project is different, because it solely points you to the direction of Jesus Christ! I have watched Purpose grow and mature in his music. You will hear it expressed through this album. The album “Victory…He Did It” will be an album for all times. I am happy to be a part of this project and will continue to work with Purpose, throughout his career!”

It is Purpose’s conviction to stay true and real, and he vows to keep his music positive. Watch out for Purpose coming at you, with Fresh Music; with a Positive Flow.
