Dupes, Saint Lucia’s Proverbial Wizard Of Oz

Dupes – The Man Behind The Music: St. Lucia's Proverbial Wizard Of Oz

Meet Sherwinn "Dupes" Brice, a singer, songwriter, producer from Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. His parents played a key role in the development of his musical abilities. At age 11, his mother gave him a Walkman and his deep fascination with music took off. This gift ignited the beginning of a very bright music career.

Sherwinn's passion for "beat making" was born after a brief stint in the United States, where he was introduced to hip hop techniques which would later lead to the purchase of his first guitar, a microphone and a four track recorder. His return to Saint Lucia would see the onset of his quest to find his place in a very broad industry – The Music Business.

Moving around from band to band, he was determined to find the right team to share his vision. With limited resources, Sherwinn used what was available to his advantage – books, internet, and anyone or anything that would provide the hands on experience that he could learn from. Eventually, he built his demo-studio where he is famous for developing his brand of alternative Saint Lucian music.

Fast forward to 2013 where we see the debut of Dupes who emerges as a recording artiste. With his latest release –Your Body, we experience a fusion of Soca, Dancehall and R&B. The song is a mid-tempo, body shaking groove that delivers eclectic island vibrations. Guest artiste Hebrue takes the song to another level with his crisp delivery of authentic Jamaican patois over Afro-Cuban drums.

Your Body is the follow up to Dupes' first single for 2013, Keep Pressing On. Your Body gives a glimpse at the personal life of an aspiring artiste and encourages fellow budding recording artistes to continue dreaming (Keep Pressing On).

Dupes says,"Keep pressing on is the message that I take with me every step on the way. When I hit a road block or someone tells me that I can't, I think about everything I've been through and I find the courage to keep on keeping on."

Both singles are accompanied by music videos and have been well received by Saint Lucians and many others. As his journey continues the underlying theme of his visuals remains the beauty of Saint Lucia and its people.

Dupes would like to thank his supporters as he continues along his musical journey, especially his wife Genelle, his son Aiden, and his management team. He encourages his fans to keep sharing his music, and most importantly to keep pursuing their dreams and aspirations.
