Read Across Jamaica Foundation Inc. is happy to present to you, "United for Independence" a celebration of Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago's 50th Independence at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park, 4601 Annapolis Road in Bladensburg, MD on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 11am-7:30pm.
We invite you to share the excitement. There is something for you at this event. Also, join is in honouring Royston DeSouza, Tony Carr, Lorna Kurlu, Learie Bruce, Diane Samuel and Honorable Mention-Earl the Pearl Blake. These men and women have publicly served us well.
Stop by for a free tasting of several Caribbean recipes. The cooks are eager to delight you with their sumptuous food. These fine cooks are Dorel Callender, "A Caribbean Mom's Table"; Andrea Walters, "A Little Taste of Jamaica"; and Marie-Louise Jean and Barbara Christophe "The Art & Soul of Haitian Cooking".
The musical entertainment by Empress, Tony Prescott, Baba Shantu, Tony Roy, Audio Mixerz, Ring Bang Tassa, Hard Pound Crew, and others will charm your ears, tingle your waistline, and activate your feet to jump up to the sounds of home. Children's games, food and craft vendors will complete this celebration.
