ST. CATHERINE HIGH ALUMNIIN THE DIASPORA OFFERS MESSAGE OF CONGRATULATIONS TO ALUMNUS PRIME MINISTER ANDREW HOLNESS AND ALUMNA JULIET HOLNESS
The St. Catherine High School Alumni Association in the Diaspora congratulates alumnus The Most Honorable Andrew Michael Holness on his appointment as Prime Minister of Jamaica, and his wife, alumna Juliet Holness, as Member of Parliament of East Rural St. Andrew.
The St. Catherine High School Alumni in the Diaspora is proud that one of our own has been chosen by the people of Jamaica and given the opportunity to take the reins of Government to guide and improve the state of affairs of Jamaica, Land we Love. As Jamaica’s youngest Prime Minister, we are heartened that our former Head-boy and Teacher, who displayed strong leadership skills from very early, has now earned the confidence of our people and we wish our young leader well as he serves in handling the affairs of our island-home.
According to Jasmine Clarke-Barnes, President of the South East Chapter of the St. Catherine High School Alumni Association in the USA, ‘Our hearts swelled with pride when we saw our Prime Minister, his wife and family decked in blue and white and we do believe it was a nod to our school colors!.How proud the founding Fathers and Sisters of our school must feel and how satisfied must be our beloved Sister Mary Paschal RSM whose vision allowed boys to attend our alma mater which started as a traditional girls’ school!’
She continued that during difficult times Prime Minister Holness should always remember the words of our school song and our motto that ‘Prayer and Work Conquer all,’ and mentioned that ‘We are pleased to note the Prime Minister’s pledge to make it easier for the Diaspora to work with Jamaica and we look forward to working with him with a view towards solving many challenges at our alma mater as well as assisting him with our time, talents and resources towards the greater good of our country. We would like the Prime Minister to know that he has our full support and we are here ready to assist him and his team as they work towards the prosperity, growth and empowerment of our Jamaican people.’
