A Box of Lies

Box of lies
Wrapped up like Christmas with bows and ties
The truth was hidden from the naked eyes
Intrigue by the allure behind the disguise
We attempt to unveil the mystery inside

We eat the apple
And plant the seed
Only to find that the fruits of our labour is just lust and greed

Self indulgence
because it’s all about me
We search for happiness
In only what the eyes can see

Throwing our hats above the sky
But when the pressure comes down
Our only escape is just to get high

Selling our positions
Our silver, our gold
Yet, truth be told
we’ve already sold our souls

Now at the end of the day
We come to realize
The truth hidden
In a box of lies
