She has won 20 Grammy Awards and is the most nominated woman in the award’s history. In 2009, Billboard named her the Top Radio Songs Artist of the Decade, The Top Female Artist of the 2000s and their Artist of the Millennium in 2011.Time listed her among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2013 and 2014. Forbes magazine also listed her as the most powerful female musician of 2015.

According to The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she has sold over 118 million records as a solo artist, and a further 60 million with Destiny’s Child, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Onika Tanya Maraj, professionally known as Nicki Minaj, was born in 1982 in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago. As a rapper and singer Nicki Minaj gained public attention after releasing three mix-tapes between 2007– 09. She signed a recording contract with Young Money Entertainment in 2009.

Since 2010, Minaj has accumulated 66 chart entries on the Billboard Hot 100 giving her the most entries among female rappers and the third most entries among female artists. She has also earned 12 top ten singles in her career which have been the most by any female rapper.  As of March 2015, Minaj has sold 3.4 million albums in the US.

Minaj was the first female artist included on MTV’s Annual Hottest MC List, with editor Brent Staples from The New York Times saying that some consider her “the most influential female rapper of all time”.

She has received 10 Grammy-nominations throughout her career, and has won six American Music Awards, 10 BET Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and was the recipient of Billboard’s Women in Music 2011 Rising Star award.
