The Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation is still tallying donations and other contributions from the January 4 instalment of the Shaggy & Friends concert, executive director Rebecca Packer says that the event was “without a doubt our biggest concert yet.” Packer says that more than 10,000 people turned up at Jamaica House last Saturday and that tickets for the event sold out even before Saturday last.
“It was just massive. I don't know how else to describe it. Some 10,000 heroes bought tickets to the show and gave their full support to the idea that one ticket really does save one life. What our patrons have done is really quite remarkable,” Packer says.
The Foundation also partnered with SportsMax and they were able to broadcast it to their affiliates in Trinidad, Grenada, St. Lucia, Antigua and CDNSportsMax in the Dominican Republic. CVM TV also carried the concert as did SportsMax partners in Canada & the USA. There was such tremendous feedback that SportsMax is working along with The Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation to package the concert and have it air again on Sunday January 12, 2014 for those who were unable to watch it in its entirety,” Shaggy said.
"Our aim was to create awareness and by partnering with Digicel & Kariblink on the live stream and Sportsmax for the TV distribution we reached some 9.6M additional viewers in over 26 countries including Jamaica,” he continued.
